When I Said I Needed Love

This was written as another dance track for the Clubs that I played at.
It was rare for me to write a positive song. This is also true of many singer/songwriters who tend to find writing about their ‘Blue’ periods is easier.

This is meant to be a reassuring song about the singer declaring their intentions to their partner. It has a dance section at the end where I pushed the little Yamaha four track tape recorder to its limits. I was very proud of myself for working out how to do a rallantando on a 1980’s drum machine (manually with the knob).

This track can also be heard on the Lifesongs Remasters EP in a very different version sung by the excellent Ava Noble. It was performed as part of the Beach Hut Theatre Company Life Songs series of concerts along with ‘Dreams are Untouchable’ the opening track on this selection
